The original idea for the character and the village of Pontypandy – in which the episodes are set – came from two ex-firemen from Kent more than 30 years ago. Whether putting out fires, saving distressed residents at sea or rescuing children from mountains, help is always close at hand with the brave and resourceful Fireman Sam and his team, who bring everyone to safety. Sam and his trusty fire engine Jupiter are now available as PEZ dispensers.
